Packaging | made from plants

Packaging. Packaging. Packaging. WE HATE PACKAGING, on many levels. It seems that being able to package coffee in a way that is environmentally friendly & keeps it at its peak is a minefield. We want to be 100% transparent when it comes to packaging, so we hope below helps.

In the end we did not choose home compostable.

Why? Contrary to belief, if you don’t have a compost heap these bags cannot go in most home food waste bins. they break down slower and & are indistinguishable from regular plastic. Instead they are more likely to be fished out and thrown to land fill where instead they break down to produce methane.

Instead we chose to go with a new material, SugarFlex, that can be recycled in soft plastic waste streams available at most supermarkets.

Sugarflex is a carbon negative, mono-material derived from rapidly renewable plant material - Sugar Cane. If you would like to know more about this please follow the video link.

We understand that this is still not perfect but after months of debating the pros and the cons, we believe this is the best option for us.
